Origin, description and philosophy

Therapeutic fasting

The practice of fasting goes back to the origins of humanity. It is found in many cultures, in all the major traditional societies, for spiritual, therapeutic and even societal purposes. In nature, animals instinctively stop eating when they are ill or injured

Complete fasting means abstaining from all food (solid and liquid) except water. In contrast to complete fasting, medicalised therapeutic fasting, as practised by the Leukerbad Clinic, involves the daily intake of herbal, vegetable and fruit juices and broth. This method is gentler but provides the same benefits to the body.

The programme lasts between 8 and 22 days in the warm and sunny surroundings of the Leukerbad Clinic. During your stay, you will benefit from natural regenerative elements such as pure Swiss mountain air, an ideal altitude and thermal water pools naturally rich in minerals. This unique location guarantees you a peaceful stay in a beautiful natural setting.

The soft alternative

The hypotoxic chrono-alimentation®

In case of medical contraindication or poor adaptation to fasting, hypotoxic chrono-alimentation® constitutes a gentle and efficient alternative. More than a simple diet, it proposes to find a rhythm of nutrition in harmony with one's biological clock and in tune with one's body needs. It corrects the harmful effects of today's eating habits which overload our various metabolic systems, encourage all kinds of inflammation and no longer allow the body to purify itself.

It is structured around three themes:

  • the right food
  • at the right time
  • in the right quantities

Reorganise one's diet according to these principles means embracing a new lifestyle, without deprivation, while keeping the small pleasures of life.

Depending on your health condition, our specialists will work with you to adapt the diet that is most effective for your body. They will help you to establish good eating habits that will accompany you every day.
